Content and Events Executive

I am searching for a talented, enthusiastic, hard working candidate who is passionate about a career in events. The successful candidate will be a motivated, confident individual able to build relationships with key players in our marketplace through direct telephone calls, face to face meetings and through social media. With the appropriate support and training, they will manage their own projects working with internal teams that include marketing, sponsorship, delegate sales and data. Regardless of experience, they can expect to be working on their own events within weeks

Most importantly, event programming is a process which requires:
1. The ability to digest large amounts of information quickly and extract the key points to build a draft event programme
2. Strong interpersonal skills: the confidence to make cold-calls, to persuade senior executives to speak at the events and to deal with objections from them and their comms teams
3. Good communications skills internally - keeping other teams informed of progress and problems
4. A very high degree of organisation: a disciplined approach to time-management; meticulous attention to detail, record keeping and contact database maintenance
5. The desire and ability to meet targets and milestones: events are milestone-driven and so is remuneration
It is impossible to overemphasise the importance of this combination of organisational skills and confidence.

Job Tasks include:

To give a flavour of the day-to-day process through which an event is built:

Over a 12 month period the candidate will perform the following tasks:

- Lead generation - for market research calls and potential delegates & speakers
- Market research - on the phone using a script, for countries in which we are hosting, or thinking of hosting, upcoming events (may need to adjust working hours as required)
- Read white papers, listen to web casts and go to other industry events to learn the most up to date industry information, summarise and report back to the rest of the team
- Brief other departments in the company per event and in weekly meetings about the most up to date information security news
- Speaker acquisition
- Find supporting organisations and negotiate contra deals
- Schedule marketing campaigns
- Ensure all presentations are up to standard
- Put the agenda together, keeping all stakeholders happy
- Put slide decks together
- Keep speakers engaged from time of booking to the event day
- Ensure all speakers turn up on the day
- Keep timing of the agenda on the day
- Check all equipment is on the stage at the right time
- Obtain permission from speakers to share their slides with delegates
- Produce event reports
- Suggest new types of events
